The Iowa Events Center is a three venue, state-of-the-art multi-purpose complex located in the heart of downtown Des Moines, IA. SystemWorks used retro-commissioning studies to determine potential improvements, each with annual energy savings ranging from $100 up to $29,000 a year. The Iowa Event Center decided to implement 23 of the 32 improvements over the course of 2017. SystemWorks commissioned the improvements to verify proper installation and operation. Utility costs were reduced by 50%, and the overall simple payback for the combined projects and studies was less than 10 months (after MidAmerican Energy rebate). Implemented improvements will continue to save more than $150,000 annually in energy costs.
